Casita de Belen

During the year 2008, 120 children attended the activity at the Casita de Belen. The Children at Casita de Belen could benefit from the voluntary support of teachers helping them in their school homework and guiding them in games, sports activities and also gardening. Daily a nourishing meal has been offered them and once a month a medical check up. In the beginning of this year 2009, they enjoyed a fortnight at the seashore, offered to them by the Municipality of Mar del Plata.

Project a hospital

“A vision without a task is but a dream; a task without a vision is drudgery; a vision with a task is the hope of the world.” (D. Zimmerman)

We have both a vision and a task - to save life; continuous effort and sacrifice have been needed to bring them to realisation.  It is more than a dream - we are actually saving life in Ibadan and its surrounding villages, through medical care given in our new hospital. At present the hospital comprises: an emergency unit, two operating theatres, 64 beds for inpatients, including seven private rooms and a maternity unit; a radiology department, a laboratory, a pharmacy, a first aid room, consultation rooms, and areas for staff and domestic services. Recently we were given two ambulances and an autoclave (steam sterilizer) for the operating theatre. At present the daily medical staff consists of two doctors, an analyst, seven professional nurses and three auxiliary nurses. Beginnings are always difficult: but we have taken great care to have all necessary equipment for the theatre rooms as well as for other units. Every day many, many people come for help with their medication. The sisters give special attention to women and children through outreach programmes in the surrounding villages.

Distance Adoptions

In 2009 the Mission Office reached out to 415 children, both girls and boys, in Africa, Latin America and in Asia. The credit goes to our benefactors, who through their continual generosity and sacrifice contribute to the progress of these children.

Thank you to all our benefactors!!! As we know, “A little and a little, collected together, become a great deal; the heap in the barn consists of single grains, and individual drops of water form the mighty oceans”

Five breads and two fishes

We have received donations for a total of 1,500 meals pro children of Paramonga and Perù. The total amount has been remitted as a 2008 Christmas gift.

Residential Centre of Rehabilitation for poliomyelitic children

In this cheerful Residential Centre the Children with serious handicaps who think that they have no useful future are given an interest in life . The Centre welcomes and takes care of all who come.

During the year 2009-2010, the Centre cared for a total of 35 children with poliomyelitis:

Christians:     Boys: 13       Girls: 16

Muslims         Boys:   2       Girls:   4

The Miss Haq Residential Home for children with poliomyelitis has also welcomed 12 other children for corrective surgery, who afterwards left for their homes. The 35 resident children, with different cerebral and other problems, are taken through a continuous and complete range of physiotherapy activities. We thank those who have so generously contributed to our funding of this project.
