Being a meeting, sharing and helping place that gives hope to all street children and families living in Barrio 2 de Abril in Mar del Plata Argentina.

History

Casita de Belen is created in 1989 as an answer to the urgent needs felt by the families living in Barrio 2 de Abril (Mar del Plata-Argentina) who, for working reasons, are obliged to leave their children alone for many hours during the day, letting them cope by themselves with every kind of social vice. With the passing of the years, Casita has also become an instrument for helping parents become aware of their educational role and of the fact that they must undertake it with attention and responsibility.

Concrete actions

Casita de Belen is active in:  

Being a place of good friendship, sharing, entertainment for the children who are left by themselves for most of the day.
Offering a help in school work and distributing a daily meal  
Renewing and supporting motivation and interest to studying.
Organizing meetings concerning social and pedagogical support for parents.

Seeing that a small plot be disposable to the families who may need it for cultivating vegetables
Providing for a weekly distribution of food packs to the mothers who contribute to the Casita’s  life and activities as volunteers.
