“To contemplate and reveal
the motherly face of the Mercy of the Father
who in Jesus frees and saves us”
is fundamental to our “being together”
and is the breath of life that inspires
all the forms of our missionary presence.
Attentive to the changing world and drawn irresistibly - like
our founders – to the Father who wants each of his children to
have life, we seek to spread the Good News by creating all
kinds of experiences and services which stress the importance
of the life God gave us.
Our presence in the world is expressed through many different
forms of education and healthcare. We recognise that working
for human dignity and integrity makes us servants of the Word,
artisans of justice, and collaborators with all who work for
peace. This is why:
We
care for children stricken by poverty and war,
for children with physical or mental handicaps who
lack material resources and loving care.
Our
work in society is adapted and organised to meet the real
needs of our immediate situation, and aims to support families
often weakened by violence and division. We give a sympathetic
accompaniment to young people in search of a meaningful
future, and those persons not able to find their place in the
Church.
In
our numerous schools and institutes in Europe, Africa,
Asia and Latin America, we contribute to the education
and formation of the young. Our schools are inspired by
realistic, evangelical values, and offer teaching and
experiences aimed at preparing them to be persons
capable of thinking, discerning and working in
solidarity
Through
our healthcare we become “neighbours” to those suffering
in body and spirit. Aware that sick people have many
complex needs, we aim to make all our preventative and
nursing activities a “concern for life”, borne out by
technological, professional and human care of the
highest quality.
We
accompany those suffering from AIDS and living in
suffering and abandonment, especially at the last stage
of their lives.
We
are sympathetic towards the elderly
in the isolation and abandonment they often experience
these days, and give them particular attention.
We
are challenged when women’s personal dignity is not
recognised; in various countries we have begun courses
of formation and work-training centres - with and for
women - in order to further their advancement and help
them achieve due recognition within the family and in
society.
We
are active among decreased populations in rural areas where
the Church’s presence is reduced, finding there a privileged
space for accompaniment, catechesis and preaching.
We
are eager to cross frontiers in order to dialogue
actively with other religions, new zones of fracture,
cultures and ways of thought different from our own; we
are drawn to share, but mainly to better, the inhuman
conditions of life oppressing marginalised people on the
outskirts of cities.
In order to make this new and unusual presence possible, we
work together to create inter-congregational and ecumenical
communities.

humanization in the service of LIFE
